It’s Monday, a wintery morning and the newspaper in front of me tells me that it is January 7, 2013. I’m still in Finland and waiting to return to Atlanta in a few days. My mind is rushing through all that has happened during the past weeks – touring Helsinki before Christmas, eating blood sausage “mustamakkara” and salmon soup at the outdoor Christmas market when it’s -20°C, dancing Salsa and Bachata at Tampere, having great time with friends and family in Jyväskylä and Kuusamo, and of course cooking and eating a lot.
Here’s a little recap of the holiday foods prepared by my mom and dad.
In addition to these, we had lots and lots of other fabulous traditional Finnish Christmas foods accompanied by some Puerto Rican delicacies, such as Coquito, Guineitos en Escabeche and Tembleque, thanks to my Puerto Rican girl.
